Tips for Dad to reconnect with himself and those he loves
Success from the inside out: Ten Power Tips 1. Live on Purpose Every day take time to look into your heart to understand who you are and where you’re going. Assess your gifts and abilities. Write down your vision. Use journaling as a reflective tool. Let your values guide your commitments. Say “NO” to things that don’t fit. 2. Take Focused Action Pray, Plan, Proceed. Make action the food that will nourish your success. Set specific goals, and then work your plan. Every day do something that will move you closer to your vision. 3. Tune your Mind to the Positive Begin each day by stating your intentions. Sit quietly for fifteen minutes and listen to your inner voice. Use affirmations to create positive manifestations. Change your vocabulary, replacing limiting words. Substitute “can” for “can’t” “and” for “but.” 4. Lead with Love Have an attitude of love and service, always affirming the strength and gifts in others. Be teachable. Admit limitations. Each day, write at least three things for which you are grateful. Use at least one of the 86,400 seconds of the day to say, “thank you.” 5. Let Go Streamline your life. Clear away the excess. Every day let go of one thought, thing, commitment, person, or debt. Create order internally and externally. Make time for the things you love. Define the essentials of what you need to live with joy. Let go of the rest. 6. Choose Premium Fuel Choose whole foods – greens, grains, lean protein and fruit. Avoid processed, packaged items. Eat breakfast. Make lunch the largest meal of the day, and stop eating two or three hours before bedtime. Watch your portions. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Drink a minimum of eight 8 oz. glasses of pure water per day. 7. Make Sleep Sacred Develop a sleep ritual and keep regular hours. Get at least seven and a half hours of uninterrupted sleep. Stay away from caffeine, nicotine and alcohol at least four to six hours before bed. Exercise regularly, but not too close to bedtime. Use the bedroom only for sleep and sex. 8. Use Breath as a Change Agent Practice deep, diaphragmatic breathing every day to oxygenate your brain and transform you state of mind and body. Use deep breathing to release stress, focus the mind, build energy, help manage pain, and even aid in weight loss. 9. Take Time to Pause and Play Work intensely with extreme focus, and then ease up. Take a break every ninety minutes for peak performance. Create a ritual of self care. Take time to laugh. Combine exercise with play. Devote at least thirty minutes each day to something you love. 10. Get Out of the Way Be persistent and have patience. Don’t get in the way of your own greatness. Hold on to your vision, and have faith that it will come to pass if you do the work. Look at possibilities rather than limitations. Slow down and appreciate life. Know that God’s timing is perfect. Keep your eye on your Purpose. Remember…THY (not MY) Will Be Done! |
